Samiran Das

Hi, I am Samiran Das. I am currently working as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology, HZDR, Germany. I have served as an Assistant Professor at the JIS Institute of Advanced Studies and Research, JIS University, and the School of Computer Science, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies for 2.5 years. I have also worked as a Research Engineer at Micelio Labs Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore., where I worked on Machine Learning Research and Development.

I obtained my Ph.D. from the Advanced Technology Development Center, the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, in 2020 in Image Processing, and Machine Learning. My Ph.D. thesis topic was “Subspace-based approach for Hyperspectral Unmixing”. I obtained my M. Tech in Instrumentation & Control Engineering from the University of Calcutta, and completed my B-Tech in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering from the West Bengal University of Technology.

I have worked on several projects in the area of Hyperspectral Image Processing, Tensor Decomposition, Unsupervised Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Biometrics, etc., and published several papers in reputed journals and conferences. My research interest lies in Signal, Image Processing, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Remote Sensing, etc. I am currently co-supervising two Ph.D. students in these areas.
